The expansion joints are essential to the production of industrial flooring. They have three main functions:
The end casting formwork. The operator is therefore not forced to arm the closure anddisarm it at the end of the casting. This is because the joint is a so-called formwork to be given by the profile of the joint itself throughout its height. The distribution of the loads applied to the bars through the dowels welded to the joint. The protection of the construction edge in order to reduce the risk of disrupture caused by the passage on the concrete edges, “weak” by nature. The presence of the joint profile can solve this critical point.
This product is therefore not a simple optional but it is an essential part of the equipment useful to the right set-up of small and large surfaces. In fact, both the storage shelves and the continuous passage of forklift trucks and industrial vehicles weigh on industrial floors. Its goal is to separate the “boxes” of the casting, improving their performance and at the same time cancelling the differences in height. Positioned and coupled before the concrete casting then submerged in the casting itself, expansion joints allow the casting plates to move horizontally, but fix them vertically. This ensures the same surface level and the flatness of the product by eliminating the little steps between one plate and another. They also provide greater stability during the handling operations inside warehouses. Over the years, different types of joints have been developed to fulfill the different specific functions required in the project. The model shown here, the “JA” series, is the most common and allows, in its different dimensions, to solve most of the needs. The other models present at the footer of page 2.22 represent only some of the many types available on request.
